Artist Statement
My artistic practice centers around surrealist drawings and paintings that represent complex human emotions and constructs. Because these can often be hard to understand, my work attempts to visualize these concepts by exaggerating them in dark surreal ways as my mind interprets them. My research centers around the history of cartoons and abstract representation of life, how they have evolved into their darker contemporary forms, and how it can be used to further express my own artistic concept. Through further research, I aim to find new innovative ways to represent emotions, historical events, and abstract concepts that we as a human race experience throughout our lives.
